Japan's Top 30 Software Chart Is Entirely Nintendo Switch Games This Week

While Nintendo remain one of gaming's three biggest forces, they aren't the all-encompassing giant they once were, back in the NES-era. However, if you looked at the Japanese software charts today, you might be drawn to very different conclusions.

As published by Famitsu, their Top 30 Software Chart revealed some surprising stats. Between August 2, 2021 to August 8, 2021, every single entry was for a Nintendo Switch game. According to Game Data Library, that's the first time we've seen this happen since 1988.

Japan's Top 30 Software Chart Is Entirely Nintendo Switch Games This Week

On the hardware side, Switch took 72k sales, PS5 saw 13k, Xbox Series nabbed 1k, PS4 took 1.4k and finally, the 3DS family pushed 323 units. Given previous stock shortages for new-gen consoles, that's not too surprising to see. As for the software charts, you can find the full stats below:
