New World: Best Musket Build

New World brings a lot of weapons to the table that work and level up very differently, and determine which kind of approach your character will have in combat, whether is PVP or PvE. Today we’re gonna talk about the Musket, a ranged firearm that will keep you at a safe distance from your enemies, while you unleash hell on them.

Musket - Mastery Tree

For the Musket you don’t have to follow a specific Mastery Tree, instead, you can rely on the skills Power Shot, Shooter's Stance, and Traps, and build the rest of passive skills upon that. Both Power Shot and Shooter's Stance provide the attack power you need for this build, and while these skills (and the Musket in general) can leave you somewhat defenseless, Traps is a skill that helps you to get foes immobile while you attack.

Musket - Attributes and Stat Focus

The Musket is a ranged weapon that scales with Dexterity and Intelligence. While Dexterity is your main priority to invest points in, you also must keep in mind what kind of weapon you want to use as an alternative. It’s highly recommended to pair the Musket with weapons like the Rapier, which scales with both Intelligence and Dexterity, or the Fire Staff on a minor scale, for a more offensive approach on the magic side. Last but not least, don’t forget to invest at least a bit in Constitution so you’re not that weak in combat, and you should be fine.

In synthesis, your focus should be:

  • Dexterity
  • Intelligence (only if paired with magic weapons)
  • Constitution (at least 50 points)

For a Musket setup, it’s recommendable to use Medium or Light Armor if you want to use a magic weapon as a secondary, like the Ice Gauntlet. Since you will be focusing on a ranged approach to combat, you should be fine enough with Medium armor to not be that weak if you want to use a melee weapon as a secondary. Otherwise, if you wanna go full glass cannon or employ a magic weapon as an alternative, then the Light Armor will provide the boost in damage and dodging that you need so you can obliterate your foes before they get to you.

Musket - Gems and Perks
