Mortal Kombat 11 Reaches 12 Million Sales


Mortal Kombat 11 has made significant leaps these last two years. Though developers NetherRealm Studios are now moving onto new projects, it's hard to deny 11's been a runaway success and now, they've confirmed with publishers WB Games that Mortal Kombat 11's reached 12 million sales.

Initially launched for Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC and Stadia across 2019, Mortal Kombat 11 saw strong post-launch support following this, including the Aftermath expansion in May 2020. Since then, NetherRealm's brought it to Xbox Series X|S and PS5 through an enhanced "Ultimate Edition".

Mortal Kombat 11 Reaches 12 Million Sales

Speaking within a press release, NetherRealm Studios creative director and Mortal Kombat co-creator, Ed Boon, also advised the wider franchise has now sold 73 million units. Specifically, Boon confirmed:

When Mortal Kombat launched nearly 30 years ago, I never dreamed it would grow into the franchise it is today with more than 73 million games sold. We have some of the most passionate fans in the world and we appreciate the support they have shown us over the years.

Separately, WB Games also revealed that Mortal Kombat Mobile has surpassed 138 million downloads, which is available now on iOS and Android.
