Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge was the first animated movie from the game series in a long time. The film was well-received and awesome to watch, but it isn't a one-trick pony. A sequel will be released very soon, in a few months.
Fans have been kept informed about the sequel by Ed Boon. The pictures and little details he posts here and there are fantastic, but knowing how soon it's coming is even better. 'Battle For The Realms' is supposed to be the title.
A New Mortal Kombat Movie Coming Soon
Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms is currently being developed by Warner Bros. and is expected to release sometime shortly. Warner Brothers announced this information yesterday. Though no story details have been revealed for the sequel to Scorpion's Revenge, it's likely to pick up after that film.
Despite that, we do know pretty much everyone who voices the characters. I must warn everyone, and this is where spoiler territory for the original begins. Some characters die in the original, and I will be spoiling it for anyone unaware. This is your only warning.
- Joel McHale will play Johnny Cage
- Jennifer Carpenter will play Sonya Blade
- Patrick Seitz will play Scorpion
- Fred Tatasciore will play Shao Kahn
- Robin Atkin Downes will act both as Shinnok and Reiko

Battle of the Realms will also be directed, written, and produced by the team behind Scorpion's Revenge. Ed Boon, the creator of Mortal Kombat, served as a creative consultant and confirmed the news on his Twitter account.
As far as the plot goes, Scorpion's Revenge follows the original game. The sequel will likely follow the same storyline as Mortal Kombat 2. Battle of the Realms has yet to be given a release date. Rumors say it will release before the end of the summer.
