Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings Of Ruin Ships One Million Units Worldwide


It's been nearly two weeks since Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin first arrived on PC and Switch. We had strong opinions on it, awarding it 4/5 and calling it a game that'll "suit both established series veterans and Monster Hunter newcomers alike". Now, Capcom's released the sales figures.

According to a Twitter update, Stories 2 has now shipped a combined total of one million units worldwide, already taking it beyond the original 3DS game at 309k. To celebrate this, Capcom released some special artwork.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings Of Ruin Ships One Million Units Worldwide

It's a strong performance from this turn-based RPG spin-off, one which features greater emphasis on story and sees your Rider bond with other Monsters. However, it's a long way off main entry Monster Hunter Rise, which reached an incredible 6 million units a month after release, later extending to 7 million.

However, Stories 2's numbers seem likely to continue growing. Capcom's previously confirmed several further main updates across 2021, outlining their post-launch support roadmap. Soon as those updates launch, we'll keep you informed.
