Monster Hunter Stories 2: How to Get a Palamute

To get a Palamute in Monster Hunter Stories 2 you will need to update the game after the July 15 download drops. Once you've done this, load up the game to get access to a Palamute Ticket via Melynx Inc. for 8 Bottle Caps. This unlocks a 5 star co-op quest at the Quest Board, which sends you off to a Palamute Den. Just select Multiplayer missions and head into either a local or online quest. Bring back eggs from the Palamute Den and hatch to get a chance at a Palamute. Given that the lowest rated mission to get a Palamute is 5-Star, you will need to have progressed to the Felyne Shelter area of Lamure to get Palamute Tickets.

Make sure you explore all areas of the quest map to find all of the eggs. Palamute eggs have coloured Shuriken icons on them. There's also an 8 Star Mission that will let you use a rare Palamute Ticket to start. This will get you a Palamute with Rare Genes. These quests can only be done in co-op menus of the multiplayer section of the Quest Board. You can choose local and go in with an AI partner however.

Palamute Elements

The coolest thing about the Palamute in Monster Hunter Stories 2 is that depending on which eggs you hatch, you'll get Palamutes with different elemental types. This means you can tweak your squad to include multiple Palamutes, all targeting different damage types. this is sure to become a very powerful tactic over the coming days.

Riding a Palamute

You can ride a Palamute by selecting it as your Lead Monstie. This will be a welcome sight for those who've played MH Rise, with the Palamute able to climb Ivy Walls and Dash.

Getting More Palamute Tickets

Melynx Inc will only have 5 Palamute Tickets (N) at first. You will need to get to the post-game to open up more supplies. You'll be able to purchase as many as you want at this point. Another good way to get these is to take on the 'Throw Me a Bone' 8-star Subquest at the quest board. You can trade Monster Bones for Palamute tickets.

Getting a Palamute Egg

Just like with other Co-Op Den Quests you'll need to explore the area and find Egg Dens. Search through all of them until you get to one with a shuriken on it. These can be a variety of different colours. Your best chance will be at the target den, however there's also a chance to get them in the egg dens before you get there. Use an SR ticket to have more chances and more egg dens. You may need to play through the quest a few times before you get a Palamute Egg.
