How to Save Manually

If you want to manually save you can head into the start menu and select save game. This can be done if you are not on a quest. Your game will not save during quests so you will have to commit when taking on a request.

Put Your Switch Into Sleep Mode

The Nintendo Switch does have a sleep mode though, just pressing the power button while handheld or holding it and selecting sleep mode in docked mode. This will let you leave the game and come back, without losing progress. Just make sure to keep your battery charged.
