MW2 Remastered Release: Everything We Know About Modern Warfare 2 Remastered

The internet is rife with Modern Warfare 2 Remastered rumours as they continue to circulate. With each passing day, the runours grow and the hype intensifies. However, it may be some time before we receive confirmation about a MW2 Remaster with Modern Warfare 2019 firmly on the radar of Call of Duty fans.

There's a lot to be excited about as we are unsure what Call of Duty 2020 could be and as Modern Warfare Remastered was a great success, it makes perfect sense for this dream to become a reality someday.

Here's what we know about MW2 Remastered so far.

Campaign

Earlier this year, the European ratings board gave a PEGI rating of 18 to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered.

This is a strong indication that at some point we may see a remaster and lots of rumours have circulated even before this about only the campaign campaign being remastered. This would be logical as resources that are invested into the campaign mode are often seen as a waste, the majority of time and money is invested in the multiplayer. With Treyarch set to make Call of Duty 2020, it would certainly give them an easier development cycle in the short time given.

We know for sure that MW2 Remastered will not be paired with Modern Warfare 2019.

Multiplayer

So far there hasn't been much talk about the multiplayer for Modern Warfare 2 Remastered, if there was to be a remake of this game you would have to assume it would be it's biggest selling point. It's no secret that there were plenty of issues with MW2's multiplayer, MW2 Remastered would need lots of change to the online multiplayer. However, that hasn't stopped it from being one of the most memorable Call of Duty games to date.

Towards the end of May, it was noticed by fans that the Australian classification board listed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered as 15+. This could again be a hint at the campaign, however many have noted that this rating is quite low for a the campaign and would more than likely receive a higher rating if it was the case.

When Will We See MW2 Remastered?

The short answer: it wont be at least until the new Call of Duty is announced - COD 2020.

There are many rumours and potential nods to MW2 Remastered, but none of them have been as concrete. There was the Amazon leak that listed a remastered version of MW2, as well as the leaks and rumours that MW2 Remastered was set to release with Modern Warfare 2019; the game is now available to pre-order and there has been no sight of it yet. It could be that Modern Warfare 2019 has been received far better than they expected or they've changed their mind and want to add the multiplayer as well.
