CWL PSX Invitational 2016 Recap & Results

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare received its first major event during Sony’s PlayStation Experience weekend in Anaheim, California on December 3rd and 4th. The CWL PSX Invitational saw eight teams from North America and Europe battle for a $20,000 prize pool in a single-elimination bracket.

The Sony event was a prelude for the upcoming 2017 CWL season, and this weekend showed that the competition has clearly heated up for MLG Las Vegas, which will take place from December 16-18th.

The biggest upset of the weekend came from Evil Geniuses who were dominated by Orbit in a 0-3 match up. Facing off again in the loser bracket, EG suffered another rough loss from the Detroit Renegades which landed them in last place.

In fact, there were several unexpected 3-0 sweeps this weekend, and Orbit claimed three of the shutouts for themselves. Orbit’s Joee, Rated, Urban, and Zer0 were lit all weekend and dubbed Europe’s Most Dangerous.

The Grand Final ended in an intense NA vs EU showdown as the European powerhouse Orbit faced off against the North American Faze clan. Faze clan’s Attach, Clayster, Enable and Zooma showed up and fought for redemption after their disappointing finish to the CWL in 2016.

In the Grand Finals, Faze clan took the victory 3-1, becoming the first champions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
