CWL EU Last Chance Qualifier Recap

The CWL EU Last Chance Qualifier welcomed sixteen of Europe’s most talented teams to London, and they battled at the Gfinity Arena for $18,000 and one of the six remaining EU invitations to the Call of Duty World Championship.

From June 30th through July 2nd, teams played through a double elimination bracket with Millenium, MRN Black, Infused, and Supremacy advancing to the Winner’s Bracket on July 1st, securing their spots at COD Champs.

Only two spots remained heading into the final day of the Last Chance Qualifier on July 2nd, making for some epic Call of Duty matches.

Team Vitality faced eRa Eternity, but the French squad crushed eRa’s dreams of Champs with a 3-0 sweep.

And the final matchup of the tournament was a brutal fight between Aerox and Opulent eSports. The series started strong with Aerox taking the first Hardpoint match, but Opulent fought hard for a 6-2 win on Search and Destroy to tie the series 1-1. Not backing down, Aerox reclaimed the lead with a 6-2 win on Uplink. Opulent rallied some serious momentum and pulled out a massive Hardpoint win to stay alive and take the series to game five. The final Search and Destroy was a huge blowout win for Opulent eSports, dominating Aerox 6-0 and earning their spot at Champs.

Millenium, MRN Black, Team Infused, Supremacy, Team Vitality, and Opulent eSports will join their fellow European teams: Splyce, Fnatic, Epsilon eSports, Red Reserve, and Elevate at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida for the Call of Duty World League Championship on August 9th, and they’ll compete for their share of the $1.5 million prize pool.
