Black Ops: Another Cold War reveal spotted in Warzone

If you drop into Warzone to take advantage of this weekend’s “triple feed” double-XP event, you might glimpse a little tease for Call of Duty 2020.

As seen in a clip shared by Charlie Intel, a player with the Twitter handle @NutterButterAF was driving along in an SUV when his game slowed and his screen grew distorted.

A message flashed by: “Know your history.”

In replies to the Charlie Intel Twitter account, at least two more players claimed to have seen the same message. One of them, @jamesp1994, shared a clip of his own.

Activision’s been teasing a big reveal for Monday, August 10, at noon Eastern. Could we see some sort of story trailer for Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War next week? Very likely.

Modern Warfare free-access weekend

If you’ve got the standalone, free-to-play version of Warzone, this weekend’s your chance to try out more of what Modern Warfare has to offer. Just make sure you’ve got the season-five update for Call of Duty: Warzone installed, and you should be good to go.

“Battle across five multiplayer maps, including Suldal Harbor and Petrov Oil Rig, both new this season,” Activision said in a recent blog post.

“The playlist will be a map mosh pit featuring a mix of deathmatch and objective modes, giving the opportunity for varying engagements and tactical play each match.”

The mosh-pit playlist will be active in Warzone from Friday, August 7, at 10 a.m. Pacific time until 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 12.

Warzone season five

Modern Warfare and Warzone both got a massive seasonal update on August 5, introducing a new battle pass; new maps for 6v6 multiplayer, Ground War, and Gunfight; and of course a season’s worth of new modes, Operators, weapons, and cosmetic rewards.
