Is Reyna Good in VALORANT?

Forged in the heart of Mexico, Reyna dominates combat, popping off with each kill she scores. Her capability is only limited by raw skill, making her highly dependent on performance.

Reyna joined the Valorant Protocol roster in the first-ever update after the global launch. Her real name is Delilah, and her power revolves around consuming the opponent's soul. Her abilities are all about blinding opponents and self-regeneration. This makes Reyna a powerful Duelist who can hold her own ground. Nevertheless, Reyna is difficult to master as most of her abilities are dependent on getting kills.

Is Reyna Good for Beginners?

Reyna is one of the few agents beginners should avoid in Valorant. Agents like Yoru, Reyna, Jett, Astra have a higher skill ceiling. These players need to have near pro-like skills or be highly experienced with FPS games; they also need to be good at quick decision-making and aiming skills to top frag using these agents.

Reyna is considered by many as the strongest Duelist in Valorant because of her self-sufficient abilities. While on the surface, Reyna's abilities can look weak, it is unbelievably overpowered in-game if you're able to easily secure kills.

How To Play As Reyna — Abilities & Skills

Here are Reyna's abilities:

Devour (Q) - Enemies killed by Reyna leave behind Soul Orbs that last 3 seconds. INSTANTLY consume a nearby soul orb, rapidly healing for a short duration. Health gained through this skill exceeding 100 will decay over time. If EMPRESS is active, this skill will automatically cast and not consume the orb.

Dismiss (E) - Reyna instantly consumes a nearby soul orb, becoming intangible for a short duration. If her Ultimate is active, Reyna becomes invisible with Dismiss.

Leer (C) - Reyna equips an ethereal destructible eye. ACTIVATE to cast the eye a short-distance forward. The eye will Nearsight all enemies who look at it, and it works through walls.

Ultimate Ability - Empress (X) - Reyna instantly enters a frenzy, increasing firing speed, equip and reload speed dramatically. Scoring a kill renews the duration of her ultimate.

Reyna's Best Weapons

The best weapons for any Agent will depend on their play style. So if you're aggressively pushing sites for entry, then these weapons will be the best choice.

  • Ghost
  • Stinger
  • Spectre
  • Phantom
  • Ares

In case you are hanging back as Reyna and adopting a passive play style, then work your way around with the following weapons:

  • Bulldog
  • Guardian
  • Vandal
  • Odin
  • Operator

The Phantom is the best close-range weapon for Reyna, and alternatively, the Vandal is incomparable at long-range.

Tips for Playing as Reyna in Valorant

Reyna is relatively difficult to master but will reward players at every rank. The scope is endless with this Agent, but players need to avoid being predictable. The best pro players like Tyson "TenZ" Ngo, Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom, Peter "Asuna" Mazuryk prefer Reyna to other Duelists, simply because of her healing and ability to go invisible.

Reyna's flash is her only usable ability until you score a kill. This forces players to become more cautious and decisive when using their Leers in-game. Her flashes do not regenerate, which makes it tougher for players. Nevertheless, Reyna's flashes have infinite range and will blind anyone who tries to peek at it. At the same time, her flashes can be destroyed by bullets.

Hence, mastering Reyna requires impeccable decision-making and agile reflexes. Mix up your flashes by placing them at different heights every time. This will force the opponents to aim in different directions while giving you the perfect opportunity to peek and kill.

Similarly, Reyna's Leer can be used from behind a wall. This way you can quickly peek and clear angles before the opponents destroy the eye. Her flashes are categorically different from Yoru's or Phoenix's flash and should be used differently for maximum efficiency.

Now, Reyna's abilities come to life after she gets a kill. You will get two options to choose from — Dismiss or Devour. Devour will overheal Reyna and will leave a soul trail visible to the enemies. On the other hand, Dismiss allows Reyna to become intangible for a short duration. The key to mastering Reyna is entirely dependent on a player's decision-making skills. Knowing when to Dismiss, and when to Devour will make all the difference in-game.

Valorant is all about isolating gunfights and forcing your opponents into a 1v1 at the best of times, when not playing a defensive character. Reyna is the perfect agent to isolate those 1v1s, as she can lure enemies with her Dismiss. Similarly, after getting that first kill, she can overheal and move on to the next fight with ease.

Reyna's ultimate ability gives her instant combat stim. While in her ultimate, Reyna can automatically use Dismiss and go invisible in front of her enemies. Similarly, she can Devour and overheal to keep taking opponents down at full health. Pro players suggest that Reyna's ultimate is the toughest to counter, as the Agent turns into an aim bot with all her abilities. However, in a competitive tactical FPS like Valorant, everything has a counter.

Reyna's Weaknesses

Reyna's weakness in Valorant stems from her abilities. Perhaps the most punishing ability in Reyna's set of abilities is Leer; her flashes. They can be shot down, and players only get two of them at the start of each round. The rest of her abilities depend on getting kills, so the best way to counter or tilt an opponent Reyna is to avoid her completely. Reyna's abilities become useless without kills, and this is her greatest counter.

Therefore, isolating Reyna from her team should become a priority. Nine out of ten times the opponent Reyna will chase you down for a 1v1 is she sees you alone. Use this to your advantage by setting up your teammates for crossfire at off-angles.

Additionally, always be quick to destroy Reyna's Leers. This not only forces her to use the second Leer, but can also stop an incoming rush. Countering a kill-dependent agent like Reyna requires calculated coordination, foresight, and reflex.

To conclude, Reyna is the best Duelist in VALORANT right now, and players with impeccable mechanical aim should try this Agent more often. Alternatively, to find who is best for you to play as in Valorant, check out our tier list of all agents here.
