Starfield: Will It Come To PlayStation?

A new report from journalist Jeff Grubb and YouTube creator Rand al Thor 19 have confirmed that Starfield will be exclusive to PC and Xbox platforms, making it the first big Bethesda game to be exclusive under the new acquisition, also launching into Xbox Game Pass.

According to a report from Imran Khan, Sony was only recently in negotiations with Bethesda to make Starfield a timed PlayStation-exclusive title, presumably before Microsoft had announced their acquisition of the publisher.

FUN NOTE: Sony had been negotiating timed exclusivity on Starfield as recently as a few months ago. Going to guess either those talks are done or the price suddenly went way, way up.

Deathloop and Ghostwire: Tokyo, two existing timed exclusives, are still expected to launch first on PS5.

Back in March, Phil Spencer confirmed that new Bethesda games will be "exclusive to platforms where Game Pass exists", signalling Microsoft's intent to not release Bethesda's games on PlayStation.

Considering Microsoft already publishes Minecraft on multiple platforms (itself a $2.5 billion purchase for the company), it's not unreasonable to have expected Starfield on PS5. However, that doesn't look to be the case.

In recent years, though, the company has attempted to push player choice in where gamers play their games. And if Game Pass ever comes to PlayStation, then you can expect Starfield to as well.
