Psyonix Makes Big Rocket League Esports Changes

Psyonix explained, "we believe this format strikes a healthy balance between open competition and rewarding consistent, high-level performance."

"It also gives us the flexibility to continue to award points towards World Championship qualification if live international events are not possible during the season due to worldwide health concerns."

There will be 18 events per season, separated across three splits - Fall, Winter and Spring.

Players can jump into open qualifiers, and after each split has been decided there's a Major.

The World Championship will also welcome new teams from South America and Oceania circuits, bringing the total number of teams to 16.

Region Events offer $100k in prize funds, with Majors offering a cool $250k. Win the World Championship, however, and your team can earn a huge $1 million, meaning across the season players have the opportunity to earn a total of $4.5 million.

Players can also keep their skills sharp in The Grid, a new weekly tournament circuit with its own prize pool. Players can also earn Grid Points to earn the chance to compete in a major.
