Epic Games have released a new patch for their flagship title Fortnite, the patch titled V9.41 brings a new weapon into the weapon pool, the announcement of Fortnite's Overtime and Birthday challenges, which will both give player's a chance to unlock some new cosmetics catered to these events. This is an interesting update consider the Fortnite World Cup begins on Friday, with little time for players to get used to the new patch. It will also likely be one of few remaining updates before Season 10.

Storm Scout Sniper Rifle

The main addition to patch V9.41 is the addition of a new sniper rifle for Fortnite Battle Royal, the Storm Scout Sniper Rifle is described as "Stay one step ahead of the Storm by scoping in to see it’s next location! ". This new weapon is a very interesting decision by Epic Games, let us not forgot there is a $30 million tournament in three days and players will not have a lot of time to adjust to this new weapon and how it will play into the overall meta.

The full details of the Storm Scout Sniper Rifle are listed down below but can also be found here:

  • The scope on this sniper rifle contains an embedded weather map that displays upcoming storm circles before they are revealed on the minimap.
  • Available at Epic and Legendary Rarities.
  • Damage: 81/85 and Headshot Damage: 202/212

So, this new sniper can one-shot any enemy in the head and can also see where the storm will pop to allow player's more time to rotate as they will already know where to go. It is unknown just how powerful this weapon could be in competitive but one thing is for sure, professional players are not going to like this addition just days before the World Cup.
