Rumours Claim Nintendo Denied Metroid's Samus Aran Appearing In Fortnite


Last month, we got plenty of revelations about Fortnite's future plans during the Epic Games vs Apple lawsuit. While Season 7's brought us new characters like Rick Sanchez, Superman and a virtual influencer called Guggimon, those docs indicated Metroid's Samus Aran may appear.

However, it now appears this won't be happening. As a galactic bounty hunter, Samus would certainly fit with the alien invasion theme of Season 7, but known leaker Shiina has just reported this won't be happening.

Rumours Claim Nintendo Denied Metroid's Samus Aran Appearing In Fortnite

Taking to Twitter, she advised that Epic Games were unable to obtain the rights for Metroid's main character, putting out a short tweet. Considering Nintendo's been historically protective of their franchises, this isn't entirely surprising they couldn't reach an agreement here.

As such, we'll have to wait longer for Metroid's return on the Switch. Whilst we wait for further details on Metroid Prime 4, rumours have suggested we could also see a new 2D entry too, alongside the original Metroid Prime Trilogy on Switch. We'll keep you informed as we learn more.
