Avengers Wakanda DLC Goes Big on Exploration and Puzzles, Crystal Dynamics Says

Crystal Dynamics built Marvel’s Avengers Black Panther DLC around exploration, with plenty of rewards and nods to the source material.

The developer shared these details with several new screenshots ahead of the Black Panther DLC’s release in August 2021.

The Avengers will explore a dense, lush jungle and its peculiar hybrid of seemingly untouched nature and ancient Wakandan technology.

Crystal Dynamics said there are secrets behind every corner, and the region is made up of entirely new assets.

In keeping with Wakanda’s independence and lack of outside interference, the team built the new area without recycling art or objects.

“It has been a huge undertaking for the art teams to pull off Wakanda; both because there is such an abundance of unique art that needed to be built, but also because all Wakandan art objects had to be crafted from scratch since it is such a unique style.”

Wakanda is also the most vertical of any region yet featured in the game and advised caution when exploring, lest the Avengers meet an untimely demise in one of Wakanda’s many deep chasms.
