Marvel vs DC: Who Comes Out On Top In The Gaming World?

Marvel and DC have always been locked in a respectful rivalry, but a report from one site appears to have crowned the former the winner - at least in the digital space.

RantCasino.com took the five most recent Marvel and DC video games and calculated their average Metascore - and Marvel comes out on top with 77.1 to DC's 76.14.

Marvel Games Are Better Than DC Games, According To Report

It's a close-fought battle, but there are some things worth considering.

Marvel's most recent releases look like this:

  • Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2
  • Marvel's Spider-Man
  • Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order
  • Marvel's Avengers
  • Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales

That's five original launches. On the other hands, DC's lineup is as follows:

  • Batman: The Telltale Series
  • Batman: Return To Arkham
  • Injustice 2
  • Batman: The Enemy Within
  • Lego DC Super-Villains

The big outlier? Return to Arkham is a remaster of Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, as opposed to a new title.

With the remasters being dinged critically for some rough edges, the original titles still stand at a Metacritic of 91 (even higher, depending on platform).

Swapping out Return to Arkham for an original release, in this case, Arkham Knight, sees the DC score raised to 77.5 - putting the house of Batman and Superman back on top, at least in the virtual world.

Which side do you think has the better games? In recent years it's been hard to argue with Insomniac's Spider-Man franchise, but I'll always have a soft spot for the Arkham Trilogy (and Origins).
