Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Becomes Best-Selling Entry at 38 Million Units


In the latest Nintendo Earnings report, the company's revealed that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe made history as the best-selling Mario Kart game of all time. Setting a lifetime record of 38.74 million units sold, it'd previously surpassed Mario Kart Wii when combined with Wii U sales, but not alone.

As reported by VGC, 8 Deluxe broke the Wii entry's lifetime sales record, which sits at 37.38 million. 8 Deluxe, which released in April 2017, sold 3.34 million units during the last six months to finally take that top spot.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Becomes Best-Selling Entry at 38 Million Units

Other notable Nintendo titles which sold significant copies during the last six months (ending on September 30, 2021) include The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD with 3.60 million, Animal Crossing: New Horizons with 2.22 million, and New Pokémon Snap with 2.19 million.

As for the Switch console, that's now sold 92.87 million units worldwide, comprised of 76.34 million for the original and 16.53 million for the Lite version.
