Legends of Runeterra may have only just begun its new season with the Rise of the Underworlds expansion, but a new event is arriving in Riot's card battler.

The Ruination is a themed event, with all kinds of spooky cards arriving, alongside a new event pass and a new Champion.

Here's everything we know so far.

The Ruination Event Start Date

The event begins on July 14, so we don't have long to wait.

The Ruination Event New Champions

The event will introduce Akshan and Viego to the game.

Check out their cards below:

The Ruination Event New Cards

As with the last expansion, cards are being revealed via Mobalytics and Dak.GG in the run-up to the expansion.

So far we've seen a fair few that could make for lethal additions to any deck, like Kadregrin The Ruined, a Dragon with 6/6 and Fury that grants an allied Champion or Dragon the Challenger keyword.

The Ruination Event Event Pass

Event Passes offer a series of free and premium awards for players that complete quests.

In the past, these have ranged from the following cosmetic items, as well as Wildcards of varying rarities:

  • Guardians
  • Emotes
  • Prismatic Cards
  • Card Backs
  • Prismatic Materials
  • Player Icons

The Ruination Event Keyword

As far as we know, there's no keyword in the next event, but it appears Fury and Overwhelm are popular among the cards revealed so far.

For those new to Legends of Runeterra, here are the descriptions of each:

  • Overwhelm: When a unit or spell with Overwhelm attacks, any damage dealt over what kills the blocker is dealt to the enemy Nexus instead.
  • Fury: When a unit with Fury kills another unit with an attack or effect and survives, it gains +1/+1.

The Ruination Event Trailer

The game's Twitter account has shared a peek at both Akshan and Viego in action, but we're still waiting for a trailer.
