LEC 2021: Rogue, MAD Lions Secure Spot In League of Legends World Championship


The playoffs of the LEC 2021 Summer Split has begun wherein the top 6 teams from the regular season will battle it out to determine the European representatives to the upcoming League of Legends World Championship 2021.

Rogue vs Misfits Gaming

Number one seed Rogue took on Misfits Gaming in the first match of the LEC Playoffs which went on to become a five-game classic and in the end, the better team prevailed – in the form of Rogue.

Rogue won in games 1, 3, and 5, while Misfits Gaming nabbed the victory in games 2 and 4. After their five-game bout, Rogue became the first team to qualify in the Worlds, now joining teams from the different regions of the world who will also compete in the biggest stage of LOL.

MAD Lions vs G2 Esports

The next match saw number 3 team MAD Lions vs G2 Esports where the former bested the latter in 4 games after a 3-1 performance was listed by MAD Lions to join Rogue as the second European team to qualify for the Worlds 2021.

Fnatic vs Team Vitality

The first elimination match in the tournament happened between the number 5 team Fnatic and the number 6 team Vitality which resulted to be another five-game thriller, with the former being the one to prevail in the end.

Fnatic outlasted Vitality in 3 games, yet it was not an easy fight as Vitality scored 2 wins to send it to game 5. But Fnatic proved to be the better team and stood tall in the end, eventually eliminating Vitality in the process.

With Rogue and Misfits facing each other in the winners; finals, Fnatic will face Misfits Gaming in the losers’ bracket with the winner advancing and facing G2 Esports in the loser’s round 3.
