Vex, the Gloomist, is now available on League's live servers
[Original Story] - In 2021 so far League of Legends has added three new champions. This includes Viego The Ruined King, Gwen The Hallowed Seamstress and Akshan the Rogue Sentinel. Up next, for our fourth addition of the year is a brand new Yordle champion known as 'Vex: The Gloomist'.
This is our first Yordle champion in well over 5 years, joining the 14 existing Yordle champions who are already available.
Riot recently dropped a new Trailer on YouTube for the highly speculated Vex and we finally have plenty of new info about this grumpy Champion.
Let's dive in and take a look at everything that was revealed by Riot Games about Vex.
September 20 -
Looking to master Vex? Then may we suggest taking a look at our guide to the Best Builds For Vex The Gloomy in LOL. This is obviously based on the 11.19 Patch Pre-Release PBE Edition of the game, but if you're looking to get good with the new mage, here's a decent place to start.
15 September 2021 -
Well this looks FUN. See what happens when streamer Pants Are Drago went hands-on with the latest champion and used Vex's ult on Katarina just before she teleports.

7 September 2021 -
Riot Games has revealed the official arsenal of Vex's abilities as well as the champion's release date in League of Legends. According to the champion's official description, Vex hates sunshine, happiness, and champions who dash all over the map.
6 September 2021 -
Whilst we wait for the release of Vex, one fan has spent some time creating a concept skin for the new Yordle champion based on the existing Cosmix range of skins. They look pretty nifty. Take a look below:
Vex: The Gloomist
Vex is a yordle champion in League of Legends, designed along the lines of a classic mage. Vex is set to become the first yordle champion to be introduced in LoL since 2016. Although Vex was initially designed as an artillery mage, the developers changed their goals and made the champion work like a classic mage instead.
Riot Games has officially confirmed that Vex will be released on the 22nd September 2021. Vex shall be introduced to the game with the release of League of Legends 11.19 patch. However, players can try out the new champion on the PBE servers once the 11.19 PBE cycle begins.
[Original Story] - According to a previous release from Riot Games, it was mentioned that Vex will be released during the month of September. Here's what Reav3, Lead Producer of Champions Team for League of Legends said about it,
"As long as everything goes as planned, Vex should be coming out in September. We're working on getting her source of power (aka her shadow) just right in-game, which is why she's releasing a bit after the Sentinels of Light event. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy getting to know the gloomy yordle who holds a special place in our goth kid hearts"
With the official announcement of Vex, Riot Games has also revealed the champion's entire arsenal of abilities for LoL. Here are Vex's abilities in the game.
Passive - Doom ‘n Gloom
Doom - Periodically, Vex becomes empowered by Doom, causing her next basic ability to interrupt dashes and Fear enemies.
Gloom - Whenever nearby enemies dash or blink, they become marked with Gloom. Vex’s next basic attack against a marked enemy detonates the mark, dealing bonus damage and refunding part of Doom's cooldown.
Q - Mistral Bolt
Vex launches a wave forward, dealing magic damage to enemies it passes through. After a short delay, the wave accelerates but has reduced width. Mistral Bolt detonates Gloom on any marked enemies it hits.
W - Personal Space
Vex gains a shield and emits a shockwave, dealing magic damage to enemies around her. Personal Space detonates Gloom on any marked enemies it hits.
E - Looming Darkness
Shadow flies to a location, increasing in size as it travels. On arriving, Shadow deals magic damage, slows, and marks enemies hit with Gloom.
Ultimate (R) - Shadow Surge
Shadow flies forward, marking and dealing magic damage to the first enemy champion hit. Vex can then recast this ability to have Shadow pull her to the marked target, dealing additional magic damage.
If the marked target dies within a short time of taking damage from Shadow Surge, Vex can cast Shadow Surge again within a few seconds.
What Lane is Vex?
Although Riot Games hasn't confirmed the champion's role in League of Legends yet, it can be expected that Vex will be a mid-lane mage. Considering the fact that we already received a physical damage mid-lane champion in the form of Akshan, it is safe to say that Vex will be a magic damage dealing mid-lane champion.
Apart from her default appearance, the champion trailer did showcase Vex in an alternate outfit. With the official reveal of the champion, Riot Games has revealed that the alternate outfit is known as Dawnbringer Vex. The developers have additionally confirmed that the skin will also be released along with Vex in update 11.19 on 23rd September.
