League of Legends is one of the world's most popular games, with Riot Games' MOBA pulling in millions of players already.

If you thought that would make the developers complacent, prepare to be surprised - Clash is coming THIS WEEKEND.

Riot is reintroducing the Clash mode to the game, and that's very good news for League of Legends players looking to prove that they're the best.

Here's our guide to Clash in League of Legends.

What Is Clash mode?

Clash is League of Legends' in-game tournament mode

How Does It Work?

Every two weeks, eight pre-made teams of five players will take part in a three-round, single-elimination tournament, with the winners getting some hefty prizes.

When Does It Start?

If you're looking to get started, the mode returns on 22nd and 23rd of February 2020. That means you'd best get practising over Valentines weekend.

The mode will take place every other weekend after that, with each weekend offering a tournament on Saturday and Sunday.

On the day, you'll need to 'lock-in' at the required time and all five team members must be locked in or the team loses its spot.

Here are the times for the lock-in:

US - 17:00 PST/20:00 ET for Tier IV, with each subsequent Tier entering this phase half an hour after the previous one. Games begin two hours later, at 19:00 PST/22:00 ET.

Europe - 18:00 GMT/19:00 CET, with games likely to begin at 20:00/21:00.

Once you're locked in, you can check out the stats and favoured characters of other players. Once this scouting window closes, a pick-and-ban phase will start.

How Many Games Are Played?

Regardless of the results of your matches, you'll be playing three matches.

How Do I Put A Team Together?

If you're ready to assemble your very own League of Legends team, Avengers-style, team creation opens on Monday, February 17. Teams will need a captain, and that captain can set the name, logo, and three-letter tag for the team.

All players must be ranked, so they'll have to have finished their placement games in Flex or Solo to be able to join you. Two-factor authentication is also mandatory.

These ranks will determine the quality of the opposition you'll face, so if you're highly ranked don't expect a squash match.

How Much Is The Fee To Play Clash?

You'll need 975 Blue Essence or 195 Riot Points for your standard entry, but you can also pick up the Premium Ticket for 975 Riot Points to offer you extra rewards.

What Rewards Can I Earn?

Each win will award you Victory Points, and the more you earn the more vanity items you'll unlock for your team and banners on Summoner's Rift.

Once you get to the end of the tournament, you'll earn either a Clash Orb or a Clash Capsule (depending on which ticket you used to enter).

The previous rewards included XP boosts, skin shards, and skins - so it's worth jumping in.
