The Last of Us Part 2 is undoubtedly an incredibly impressive piece of gaming, but depending on who you ask, its controversial plot was a masterstroke or a mistake.
If you were hoping for a third chapter, then there's some good news – Director Neil Druckmann has confirmed that there is "an outline for a story", but it's also not being made at the time of writing.
Still, in anticipation of any news we do hear, this is all we know so far.
Be warned, there are spoilers ahead for TLOU Part 2.

Release Date
Don't expect any news anytime soon. In an episode of the Script Apart podcast, Druckmann confirmed that while the game has a story outline, it's not being made.
“I don’t know how much I want to reveal and I did write an outline for a story, that we’re not making” Druckmann explained.
“But I hope one day can see the light of day – that explores a little bit what happens after this game. We’ll see.”
Characters and Story
Last call for a spoiler warning
Part 2 of the franchise threw fans for a loop by having Joel executed early on in the story. Ellie's father figure's horrific death set her on a path of revenge, before the story was flipped to allow us to play from Joel's killer, Abby's, perspective.
It was a twist that seemingly nobody saw coming, and, in this humble writer's opinion, added more to the game than playing solely as Ellie ever would have.
With a third instalment, will we see Abby take up the mantle of protagonist again? She's a controversial figure among the franchise's fans, but I for one would love to see how she progresses after the horrific events of the second game.
As for Ellie, will she look to rebuild her relationship with Dina? Or will she settle for wandering the post-apocalypse alone knowing she threw away her opportunity?
We'll update this page as we hear more about The Last of Us Part 3.
