Ammo is likely to be scarce, so a shiv could be your best friend. This improvised blade is ideal for close-range kills, but if the first game is anything to go by, it'll be a very situational weapon.

The Last of Us Part 2: How to use Shiv

You'll only need a shiv up to a certain point in the story, as Ellie's switchblade is with her at all times.

After that point, you'll need to craft or find shivs in the world.

To use them, you'll need to sneak up on enemies and grab them using the button prompt before using another button prompt to attack with the shiv. It's not particularly pleasant, as you'd imagine, but it can stop enemies calling for backup.
