The Last of Us HBO Cast List

With filming now underway, The Last of Us HBO cast is set in stone. We don't yet know the full cast list, but we're starting to get a better idea of who's who in the adaptation of Naughty Dog's survival classic.

The Last of Us takes place in a post-apocalyptic world following twin disasters. An outbreak of a fungal virus that transforms people into cannibalistic monsters continues to spread around the nation, and the de facto government's military response to the threat has left major cities in ruins.

The narrative focuses on two characters, Joel and Ellie, as they make their way across the nation to try and find hope for a brighter future.

Latest News - New Cast Members Added

July 22 - Tess actress revealed

The Game Awards presenter Geoff Keighley announced Anna Torv will play Tess in the HBO adaptation. Torv's recent credits include Fringe, Mindhunter, and Secret City.

Tess is a supporting character who's known Joel since he moved to the quarantine zone following events at the narrative's beginning, though she has her own goals in life that don't always match his.

The Last of Us HBO Joel

Pedro Pascal will play Joel Miller, the central character in the first half of The Last of Us. Pascal previously starred as Oberyn in Game of Thrones and Javier in Narcos.

Pascal shared a set photo on Instagram at the beginning of July showing him, Nico Parker, and Gabriel Luna in a car during an early scene.

Anyone familiar with The Last of Us knows what this particular scenario is all about, though we won't spoil it here.

The Last of Us HBO Ellie

Bella Ramsey will play Ellie, the second protagonist and central character of The Last of Us Part 2.

Ramsey previously starred in Game of Thrones as well, playing Lyanna Mormont. She also appeared in HBO's His Dark Materials' second season as Angelica.

Sarah Miller

Nico Parker plays Joel's daughter Sarah. Sarah has a minor role in the game, and it's not quite clear how the show will expand her story yet.

Tommy Miller

Gabriel Luna plays Tommy Miller, Joel's brother. Luna appeared in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Ghost Rider and, more recently, as Gabriel in Terminator: Dark Fate.

IMDB shows Luna appears in all six episodes, but this is likely just a placeholder since the first season will have 10 episodes.

Marlene

Merle Dandridge will reprise her role as Marlene, an influential member of the Fireflies resistance group and a friend of Ellie's mother. Outside The Last of Us, Dandridge is also known for her work in Flight Attendant and Greenleaf.

Bill

Con O'Neill, Tommy's voice actor in The Last of Us game, will portray Bill in the HBO adaptation. Bill is a paranoid survivalist who lives on his own surrounded by a town of traps to fend off Infected.

O'Neill has an extensive acting record, with some recent appearances including Viktor in Chernobyl (which also involved Craig Mazin) and Neil in Happy Valley.

Frank

Murray Bartlett plays Frank, Bill's significant other. Frank is only a passing mention in the game, so this one's a bit of an unknown variable for the show. Bartlett's recent credits include The White Lotus as Armond and Michael in Tales of the City.

Perry

Perry is a new addition to The Last of Us universe. He's a rebel played by Jeffrey Pierce, so presumably we'll see him somewhere in the show's earlier phases when Joel and Ellie are still on the east coast.

We'll update as more cast announcements roll out. So far, there's still no air date for the show.
