We've heard a few rumblings about Naughty Dog's upcoming standalone multiplayer game for The Last of Us. Alongside job listings back in August and rumours that it'd be a battle royale emerged with a few other details, and now we've gotten a direct update.
As part of yesterday's The Last of Us Day, Naughty Dog's Rochelle Snyder wrote a community update, thanking fans for their support that's made TLOU a success. As a joke, they included a question written like a fan, stating:
Yeah, that's lovely and great Naughty Dog, but what are you doing with The Last of Us right now?
Naughty Dog Gives Brief Update on The Last of Us Multiplayer Project, Says “We’re Working on It”
While Snyder didn't offer any real specifics, they confirmed:
In short, we’re working on it - we see the community comments as many of you clamor for multiplayer and want updates. For now, we’ll say that we love what the team is developing and want to give them time to build out their ambitious project, we’ll reveal more when it’s ready!
Pointing out that they're currently on a hiring spree for jobs related to their upcoming game, we'll be waiting a little longer before getting any updates. That said, we did get a first look at HBO's upcoming TV adaptation, and we'll keep you updated as the news comes in.
