We've seen Soulslike games of all flavours this last decade. While FromSoftware's own efforts pioneered this genre with Dark Souls, imitators like Lords of the Fallen and Nioh soon emerged, meaning there's no lack of choice. Now, Coatsink's publishing a new contender with The Last Hero of Nostalgaia.
Developed by Over The Moon, that was announced during a recent ID@Xbox Twitch Showcase, and we'll be playing as "the most hideous pixelated hero" to ever spawn in this world. Fighting our way through an army of mindless inhabitants, we've also got a cynical narrator to contend with.
The Last Hero of Nostalgaia's Bringing A Satirical Soulslike to PC and Xbox Next Year
Promising a "satirical, action-adventure Souls-like, driven by a dark but hilarious story," Coatsink provided this outline:
Nostalgaia is the world of videogames, and it's collapsing backwards into a mysterious pixelation. Everything is fading away to nothing: even the memories of our proud, cherished video games are being lost. Now, with our fidelity all but gone, at the very brink of extinction, hope emerges to fight back.
We've not got a solid release date yet, though The Last Hero of Nostalgaia's planned to launch in 2022. Arriving on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Steam, we'll keep you informed as we learn more.
