Microsoft has made it clear that delaying Halo Infinite is the last thing they wanted to do.

Unfortunately, they received backlash about the game and came to the conclusion that it would be for the best.

Well, things might have gone another way.

Here's what we know.

Halo Infinite Might Be Split Into Parts

Although many fans voiced concern over the Halo Infinite reveal, no one really expected a delay into 2021.

Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox, explained this was not an easy decision to make on the Gary Whitta's Animal Talking show, “Let me start just by recognising the fans and the fact that is is a bummer,”

“It is disappointing to people, it’s disappointing to us. We were looking forward to the alignment of Halo Infinite and the Xbox Series X.”

They even considered splitting Halo Infinite into parts and gradually releasing them as they were done.

But realised after 24 hours this isn't what they wanted to do.

“It just didn’t feel, to all of us, like the Halo release that we would want,” Spencer said.

“I’ll apologise to the fans because I never like to set up expectations and then not hit them, but I also believe we’re making the right decision, in the long run, for both Xbox and Halo and our customers.”

He also wanted to make it very clear that Halo's release date has no impact on that of the Xbox Series X.

Many in the community thought this may be the case as the next-gen console was set to release the same day as Halo Infinite.

No matter what happens, we think it's great the team is dedicated to giving players the best version of the game possible
