Where can you find Primordy Oil in Slime Rancher 2? Luckily, we've found the best spot, and can direct you right there.

Slime Rancher 2 is filled with not only bouncy friends, but tons of materials to use for upgrades, gadgets, and decorations. Most of them return from the first game, except now, they appear on the overworld - often in nodes or fountains. No need for tons of pumps this time!

Where to find Primordy Oil in Slime Rancher 2

Unlike in Slime Rancher, where Primordy Oil was one of the resources pumped out of the ground using gadgets, this time we need to hunt down geysers of black goop. This ancient material spews out of the ground and gives two or three items every time.

To harvest it, you'll need the Resource Harvester upgrade for the Vacpack. This costs 450 Newbucks, and 10 Cotton Plorts - super simple. Once you've got this, head out on your Oil hunt.

Primordy Oil won't be found in Rainbow Fields; the geysers here will give you Deep Brine. You'll need to head to Ember Valley for the Oil. You can find some geysers of the black liquid in the lava-filled caves (along with Lava Dust), and a couple on the overworld. These appear at random, however.

Where is the best area to farm Primordy Oil?

The most reliable Primordy Oil spot we've found is the same place that Puddle Slimes congregate - a hidden pond accessed via a cave in Ember Valley. This area reliably has three spouts of oil, which refill every couple of in-game days.

Accessing this spot is easier with the Jetpack, but can be found without it. Head to the South of the Ember Valley, and you'll find an area filled with Angler Slimes, a waterfall and a geyser. Use this geyser to hop up onto the ledge against the cliff.

Once you're on the ledge, look behind the waterfall - there is another ledge leading into a cave. Carefully hop over there, and follow the path in. Keep your eyes peeled here as there is often Radiant Ore or a Strange Diamond node.

Once inside the cave, you'll find another geyser. Use this to jump up to some stone slime statues. You'll need to jump high enough to land on top of them unless you have the jet pack to boost you up. Walk over them to the right, and follow the path.

This will lead you to an outdoor area with a pool of water, filled with Puddle Slimes, and the geysers of Primordy Oil.

Primordy Oil is a material used in crafting gadgets to use on the ranch and in the wild, as well as upgrades for Beatrix's vacpack. Suck it up, and pop it into the Refinery, and you'll be able to use it.
