Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Rotom location and how to change forms

Recently, Rotom has taken on a larger role within the Pokémon franchise. Not only does it inhabit household appliances, but it has become our phone and Pokédex, too. But we also need to find one in the wild if we want a Rotom in our party!

How to find a Rotom - Scarlet and Violet Rotom location

It is known that Rotom's enjoy the human presence, and like to hang around anywhere that there is a settlement.

In Paldea, they are found around two lighthouses on opposite sides of the region - one at Porto Marinada, and one just outside Levincia. These areas are West Province (Area Two) and East Province (Area Two).

Rotom is a rare spawn, so it may take a while to actually see one. They're only out during the day as well, with nighttime seeing them make way for Ghost-type Pokemon like Shuppet and Ghastly.

How to change Rotom forms in Scarlet and Violet

Rotom does not evolve, but it can change forms easily. To do this in Scarlet and Violet, you'll need to visit the Porto Marinada Auction House while your Rotom is in your party.

Then, you should see a vendor selling a Rotom Catalogue - this is the item needed to change Rotom's forms. There is no set way of knowing when it will show up for sale, though, so you may need to keep checking back.

Once you see it for sale, win it by bidding higher than the others, and then get to work. To change Rotom's form, open your bag and go to the Key Items menu.

There, you'll see the Catalogue. It will ask you which item you'd like to order. The following forms come with each item option:

  • Basic Rotom form - Electric/Ghost-Type
• Microwave oven
  • Heat Rotom form - Electric/Fire-Type
• Washing machine
  • Wash Rotom form - Electric/Water-Type
• Refrigerator
  • Frost Rotom form - Electric/Ice-Type
• Electric fan
  • Fan Rotom form - Electric/Flying-Type
• Lawn mower
  • Mow Rotom form - Electric/Grass-Type

The forms change how Rotom looks, and give it a different secondary type, which means it can learn different moves and change up your party.
