Is Like A Dragon Ishin on Game Pass?

Like A Dragon Ishin is the latest spin-off game from the Yakuza series. The rest of the series is on the Xbox Game Pass service, so you might be wondering, is Like A Dragon Ishin on Game Pass? It's a great starting point for the Yakuza franchise, as it's not directly linked to the story of the mainline games.

Only by sheer coincidence does the new protagonist, Sakamoto Ryoma, look identical to the series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu. In fact, almost the entire cast of Ishin is made from existing characters from the mainline games, but with new roles.

Is Like A Dragon Ishin on Game Pass?

Unfortunately, it seems like Like a Dragon Ishin will not be launching on Xbox Game Pass. This means that if you want to play it at the end of February, then you’ll need to buy either the Standard edition or the Digital Deluxe edition.

It probably won't stay this way forever, though. The studio behind the Yakuza games, Ryu Ga Gotoku, seem to be a big fan of the service. Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, Yakuza Kiwami 2, Yakuza: The Remastered Collection (Yakuza 3, 4 and 5) and Yakuza 6 are all currently available on Game Pass. The latest game, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, has also recently been added.

In fact, in an interview with Twinfinite, Yakuza writer Masayoshi Yokoyama said, “In terms of audience, I think the West has especially increased. It’s hard to tell if that’s thanks to multiplatform or if it’s because we changed the genre and protagonist from Yakuza: Like a Dragon as a new series, or both.”

“Personally, I do think subscriptions like Game Pass, allowing people to play the previous games over the years, have contributed largely to the increase in audience.”
