With the release of Hogwarts Legacy now out there for all to enjoy, any fresh-faced wizard or witch will be wondering "what's the best house in Hogwarts Legacy?" Which one you decide to go from can quite dramatically shake up your experience with the game. Beyond being driven by your personality, it's entirely up to you which house you go with. Here's what to consider.

It's definitely worth deciding already if you're planning to stray from your original house in Hogwarts if you want to make the most of your wizarding experience. As such, this guide will run through each one to make your decision easier.

Which house you should choose in Hogwarts Legacy?

The Wizarding World offers unique experiences for players in each house they may choose in Hogwarts Legacy. There are key differences that will alter story progression and the items you will get.

But you shouldn't worry much yet. You'll have the freedom to choose your house. You can have the game use the house you're assigned from your connected Warner Bros. account, but you can still change it from there if you fancy something different.

For the most part, which house you choose will affect which common room you gain access to, the house chest you'll try to unlock, the points you earn in classes, and the companion and relationship quests you can take on.

Ideally, you either want to choose your house based on the look of the common room or the companion you'll befriend in there. If you want to hang out with a specific character, choose their house.

Gryffindor

One of the main features to be expected is having access to the Gryffindor common room, tucked away behind the iconic painting of the Fat Lady. As a companion, you'll have Natsai Onai who will help you on your valiant quests in-game.

Take note though that the path of Gryffindor may take you down the road of righteousness. You may have a more difficult time straying off to dark magic.

Slytherin

A fan-favourite house alongside Gryffindor, Slytherin has been given a lot of screentime in trailers and sneak peeks of the game. Slytherin companion Sebastian Swallow can give players the opportunity to learn the Cruciatus Curse, allowing players to take a darker route throughout the game. This is the best house to choose if you want to manifest your dark wizarding skills.

Moreover, the Slytherin common room certainly looks like its Harry Potter film series counterpart, making the trip to the sly house even more exciting.

Ravenclaw

We still haven't seen much on this house. Hogwarts Legacy has yet to reveal who the companion of Ravenclaw is, who their head of house is, and what kind of path the house of the knowledgeable and creative takes. However players were able to have a sneak peek on Ravenclaw's common room, which never had an appearance in the films, so this is one fans are bound to be excited about.

In terms of choosing Ravenclaw, perhaps the puzzles and quests would require you to be more creative and logical. This would mean paying more attention to classes too.

Hufflepuff

Last but not least is Hufflepuff; the house of loyalty, patience, and hard work. That's the one Poppy Sweeting belongs to. Another interesting house, choosing the path of Hufflepuff could allow you to be introduced to the world of Hogwarts' fantastical beasts and learn more about Herbology.

From the game's trailers, players are in for a treat for the Hufflepuff common room, which was never really depicted in the films.
