How to unlock the Shakkei Pavilion in Genshin Impact

Shakkei Pavilion at Tatarasuna

Genshin Impact's Inazuma region is packed with puzzles and hidden areas, which includes Domains. One that can be a total head-scratcher is the Shakkei Pavilion, at Tatarasuna on Kannazuka Island.

This area is treacherous and is not welcoming to outsiders. In fact, you can't even access most of it without completing some quests and fighting off a barrage of Fatui soldiers. But never mind that, here's how to unlock the Domain for some helpful rewards.

How to unlock the Shakkei Pavilion in Genshin Impact

The Shakkei Pavilion is a one-time domain - not a material farming location. This is good news as it can be annoying to reach. It has a pin on the map (noted as 2 in the picture above), however, it is hidden and cannot be accessed without some previous steps.

To gain access to the domain, head to the teleport and Waverider spot on the right-hand side of Kannazuka island - noted as 1 in the picture above. There, you'll see a large cannon facing the island.

Grab an Electrogranum from the point next to the cannon, and then head to it. You can operate it to point where you like, and for this, you'll need to move it three times to the left and twice upwards. Let the cannon fire, and you'll get the Jackpot Achievement!

This has revealed the entrance to the Shakkei Pavilion domain. Summon a Waverider, and head on over there.

Once you're inside, there are a few rooms and floors to clear while collecting some chests knocking around. The enemies you'll face are Nobushi ronin, a Fatui Agent, and a Mirror Maiden. Choose your team wisely.

Are there any pre-requisite quests?

Before all of that, though, you'll need to have completed step one of a rather long quest. The Tatara Tales world quest lowers the barrier around Tatarasuna, and thankfully you only need to complete the first part of the quest to do this - the rest of the steps come a day after the previous one has been completed, and require some running around the area.

To start the Tatara Tales world quest, head to Toranosuke and Miyuki outside the Kujou Encampment, on Kannazuka island. The first part, and only part required to be completed to unlock the Shakkei Pavilion, still has a lot of steps.

  • Talk to the two NPC's, and they'll set you on a mission to go and find Xavier, and the Mikage Furnace.
  • Observe the Mikage Furnace from three points; one requires Fatui agents to be beaten, one requires you to follow a Seelie, and the third requires the use of a Thunder Sakura Bough to break the barrier.
  • Head back to Xavier, who will give you a map to locate three cannons.
  • Find and activate the three cannons, destroying the rift around the Mikage Furnace.
  • Defeat the Fatui that appear.
  • Head back to Xavier again. He'll ask you to take a photo of the furnace. Be careful while you do this as the area will seep your health away. Snap the photo and head back to Xavier again.

From this point, you'll need to wait an entire (real-time) day for the next part of the quest to unlock, but you're now free to head into the Pavilion.

What rewards can I get from the Genshin Impact Shakkei Pavilion?

Inside the Pavilion are a few chests with Mora and artifacts in them, but the real reward is for finishing the domain. You'll receive 40 Primogems, a Capricious Visage artifact, XP materials, and Mystic Ore.
