GTA Online: How To Start The Slasher Event

GTA Online is steadily adding tidbits of horror-enthused mayhem, in preparation for its Halloween event. Starting off with hunting UFOs and a Christine-inspired Phantom Car Event, many can also purchase various themed gear like the LLC Sanctus.

Now, Rockstar has snuck in a Slasher event through its latest update. Reminiscent of classic slasher films like Friday the 13th and Halloween, this mode adds a scary twist to GTA Online by having various Halloween killers stalk you in-game.

If you're looking to jump into this limited-time event, here's what you need to know.

How To Start The Halloween Slasher Event In GTA Online

In order for one of the four killers to appear, the player has to first meet certain requirements.

For starters you must be playing the game in free roam and you cannot be inside a building.

Next, you must be playing at night time (in-game), as the Slasher killers will only appear between the hours of 9PM and 5AM.

For the slasher killers to target you, you must be either on foot, or in a normal vehicle. That means you cannot be inside a helipcopter, plane, boat, weaponized vehicle or anything like the Deluxo, Oppressor or Oppressor MK2.

Upon enterting the game, 16 minutes must have passed before you become a potential target.

Likewise, you'll need to be within a specific 'Slasher zone' on the map to get in on the experience. There's also specific zones for each killer (more on that in a bit).

If all of these requirements are met, thre's a chance (it's not guaranteed) that a killer will appear and try to kill one of the players in a session.

It's important to also know that these psychotic Slasher-types have "seemingly superhuman strength".

GTA Online Slasher Event Locations

As mentioned, there are certain locations dotted around the game's map where you can be targeted. But it's different for each killer.

If you want to know where to find The Clown, The Psycho, The Driver or The Slasher, then have a watch of the below video from GTA Series Videos.

Within the video you'll find the specific radius for each killer. If you're outside this zone, you won't be targeted by that killer in question. For instance, if you're in Blaine County, you can't encounter The Clown, but you might run into The Slasher. Either way, have a watch:
