Grand Theft Auto 5 is still one of the best-selling games of all time, even though it’s a game from the PS3 era that just happened to get releases on PS4 and, soon, the PS5, with many next-gen players looking forward to the improvements that will be made, along with the fun chaos that comes with Grand Theft Auto Online, at least until GTA 6 finally gets announced.
Due to the success of the game and the upcoming improved loading times, many fans have wondered if GTA Online will be going free-to-play this year, as the online title has managed to make a ton of money by itself and the fact that it will be a separate download that’s free for PS Plus owners that have a PS5 has a lot of people curious about this separate download.

Is GTA Online Free To Play in 2021?
We still don’t know when Rockstar Games will be releasing Grand Theft Auto Online separately from GTA 5 since but a lot of fans are hoping it will be free-to-play, mostly due to the number of microtransactions that are already plaguing the game.
It’s not yet clear if this is the plan since Rockstar Games released Red Dead Online separately from Red Dead Redemption 2 and that was still a paid release.
Admittedly, Red Dead Online wasn’t as successful as GTA Online, though it still has a decent fanbase, so making that a paid download makes some sense.
However, GTA Online is a juggernaut when it comes to having a presence in online gaming and Rockstar would make plenty of money if they made it a free-to-play download.
Right now, it’s hard to say if Rockstar Games really will make GTA Online free so if you just want to play this mode without GTA 5, get a PS5 and be a PS Plus member.
Grand Theft Auto 5 comes with Grand Theft Auto Online and is now available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
