Grand Theft Auto V Has Sold 150 Million Copies Globally


Following the release of its latest summer update, Los Santos Tuners, Grand Theft Auto V continues to perform strongly.

Having just shipped 145 million copies earlier this year, the Rockstar production has now exceeded this number.

Grand Theft Auto V Has Sold 150 Million Copies Globally

Take-Two's Q1 2022 earnings call discussed the future of the publisher's company, revealing that a new franchise will be announced later this month.

They also reviewed GTA V's sales up until now, declaring that the popular game has shipped more than 150 million copies since its launch.

Released initially in 2013, GTA V has also achieved a series of other accolades:

Reached $1 billion in retail sales faster than any entertainment release in history
Best-selling game of the decade in the U.S., based on both unit and dollar sales.

After incorporating the performance of GTA V, the Grand Theft Auto series as a whole has topped 350 million sales worldwide.

It seems like the fifth episode will continue its dominance, as a next-generation release is planned for this fall.

While a Grand Theft Auto 6 release is still at least four years out, with rumours of a revamped Vice City setting resurfacing last week.
