Can I Refund Shark Card Purchases For GTA Online On PS3/Xbox 360?


You've likely seen that Rockstar's shutting down Grand Theft Auto Online's PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 servers on December 16. It's been eight years since they first went up, though Rockstar abandoned adding new GTA Online content to either platform since 2015. Despite that, servers were never taken offline until now.

While we've touched upon transferable saves for Xbox and PlayStation users, some of you might be wondering about Shark Cards. After all, if you've just bought some to obtain in-game currency, you'll want to know whether they can be returned. Here's what we know about any refunds.

Can I Refund Shark Card Purchases For GTA Online On PS3/Xbox 360?

Unfortunately, the answer is no. As outlined in a recently updated support page, Rockstar confirmed this within an FAQ:

Can I get a refund for Shark Card purchases for Grand Theft Auto Online on PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 or transfer the balance to current console generations? Virtual currency and virtual goods purchases are platform-specific and cannot be refunded or transferred. Please see our End User License Agreement for additional details.

Can I Transfer Balance to GTA Online on PS4/PS5/Xbox One?

Sadly, this isn't possible either. Within that same support page, Rockstar confirmed:

When Do Shark Cards Stop Being Sold?

Shark Cards for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 will no longer be sold as of September 16, 2021. That means they'll be unavailable in the three month period before GTA Online's servers go offline.
