Thrilling action from the top teams in the V10 R-League at Spa-Francorchamps, the penultimate round of Season 1, meant both Porsche24 Redline and Williams Esports took away maximum points — setting up a dramatic finale that will go down to the wire.
Williams rebounded from a two-to-one loss to Red Bull Racing Esports by dominating their matchup with Team Fordzilla. Martin Stefanko gave a champion’s drive to help his team gain the maximum amount of points possible in the team race, but was given a run for his money as Pablo Lopez once again was Fordzilla’s star driver. Thanks to this result, Williams has brought the championship down to the wire, and must beat Porsche in the final match at Yas Marina Circuit to win the series.
Porsche continued their form, sweeping aside BWT Racing Point Esports, with the standout performer Michal Šmídl. He showed some excellent racecraft, and fought his way up from fourth to lead in the team race by the end of the third lap, not looking back.
Red Bull lost ground on the top two teams, being beaten by Jaesa Team Suzuki. There was some controversy involving Graham Carroll and Danilo Santoro in their head-to-head race, as both drivers held each other up going up the fearsome Eau Rouge, not wanting to be in the lead come the Kemmel Straight.
Meanwhile, BMW Motorsport SIM Racing Team has moved into third place following a tough battle with Yas Heat, where the elbows were out and the racing was full of incidents.
The eight pro sim-racing teams head into the much-anticipated Season 1 finale as follows:
- Porsche — 16 points
- Williams — 13 points
- BMW — 12 points
- Red Bull — 10 points
- Racing Point — 7 points
- Suzuki — 6 points
- Yas Heat — 4 points
- Fordzilla — 1 point
Highlights of the V10 R-League finale will be broadcast by BT Sport on Monday, October 19. Coverage is available, in other regions, via ESPN networks and platforms and Starzplay Arabia.
