After a quick mention earlier in the year, MiHoYo today announced that the Honkai Impact 3rd crossover with Genshin Impact will begin soon. Once the Honkai Impact 3rd v4.9 update goes live, Fischl from the developer's mega-hit open-world title will be available in Honkai Impact 3rd as its first Archer character.
But there's more to the highly anticipated collaboration than Mondstadt's self-proclaimed Prinzessin showing up in the developer's previous live service game. Though you won't get to keep her beyond the event, Genshin Impact's Keqing will also be playable during an event-specific quest.
Before the update lands, you can watch the teams over at MiYoHo lament on how the crossover came to be, and the challenges they faced in the process. If it wasn't obvious enough from the internal crossover, they're hoping it'll give players of each game reason enough to check out the other.
In Honkai Impact 3rd, Fischl is designed to take on enemies by aiming her arrows at their weak spots. Although she's capable of the same in Genshin Impact, she's often referred to as a "machine gun" due to her ability to deal rapid damage by simply spamming the attack button. This means those familiar with Fischl's current playstyle will need to readjust their muscle memory when using her in the Honkai Impact 3rd crossover.
Although it isn't clear exactly what her familiar Oz will do in combat, MiYoHo notes that his model, animations and special effects have been updated to "give Fischl a bigger presence and unique charm," suggesting he won't be quite as important as he is in Genshin Impact.
There's no mention of a Honkai Impact 3rd v4.9 release date just yet, but the supplied press release does promise that more information will be revealed soon. When that happens, expect our Honkai Impact x Genshin Impact hub page to have all the information you could need.
