Azhdaha is an Elite Boss of the Liyue region, located under the instanced dungeon "Beneath the Dragon-Queller" in the north part of Nantianmen, Liyue. This fight is unlocked after completing Zhongli's Story Quest "Historia Antiqua Chapter: Act II - No Mere Stone”.

Players can relive the fight they had with Azhdaha to receive rewards in a boss fight, and after it’s defeated, the player must consume 30 Original Resin to claim his drops, which consist of various Artifacts and Ascension Materials for several different characters. Keep in mind, you can only collect rewards once per week.

Azhdaha - Abilities and Attacks

Azhdaha can infuse itself with Electro, Pyro, Hydro, or Cryo elements. You will recognize this due to several color changes, and the damage type will be converted to the respective element after triggering the Elemental Infusion. Below 33% HP, Azhdaha will infuse itself with an extra Element, gaining a dual Elemental Infusion.

Phase 1 - Geo Element

Azhdaha has 70% Geo Resistance, 40% Physical Resistance, and 10% Elemental Resistance to all other elements.

Earthen Skull: Slams his head into the ground, unleashing explosions that move in a straight line. In Phase 2, the damage type will be converted into Pyro, leaving several fireballs in the air that will hit the ground randomly.

Body Slam: Slams its body sideways. In Phase 3, the damage type will be converted into Cryo.

Seismo-Waves: Slams its foreleg once and emits three consecutive shockwaves, before following up with a final shockwave. Each one pushes players next to him away. In Phase 2, the damage type will be converted into either Hydro or Pyro.

Shocking Step: Slams both of its forelegs releasing a shockwave upon each impact. In Phase 2, the damage type will be converted into either Hydro or Pyro.

Tail Slam: Slams its tail once if the target is behind it. In Phase 3, the damage type will be converted to Cryo and it'll be slower, but will summon several Ice Spikes around the impact area that will explode twice.

  • Cryo-Infused: Explodes and leaves raining ice shards upon impact, dealing continuous Cryo damage to characters in the affected area for a while.

Phase 2 - First Elemental Infusion

Upon reaching 67% HP, Azhdaha infuses himself with Hydro or Pyro Element, gaining an additional 60% Elemental Resistance to this infused Element, resulting in a total of 70% Elemental Resistance to this element. Azhdaha will still use any ability from Phase 1, and they will be infused with the current infused Element.

Tremors: Azhdaha slams its legs unto the ground, unleashing shockwaves 5 times and ending with one final huge shockwave. This ability will produce several effects, based on the current infused element. In phases one and two, Azhdaha only uses Tremors before he gains an infusion. In the final phase, he will continue to use it.

  • Hydro-Infused: Six lines of water streams will be released after the final huge shockwave.
  • Pyro-Infused: Leaves several fireballs in the air, that will hit the ground randomly after the final shockwave.

  • Pyro-Infused: Leaves Pyro-infused cracked earth that will explode twice, and several fireballs in the air that will hit the ground randomly.

The King's Roar: Summon several moving Elemental spheres that will rotate around the arena and deal damage per second upon impact. They will inflict whatever Elemental Damage Azhdaha is Infused with.

Phase 3 - Dual Elemental Infusion

Upon reaching 33% HP, Azhdaha will infuse itself with Electro or Cryo Element, gaining a dual Elemental Infusion and an additional 50% Elemental Resistance to this second infused Element, resulting in a total of 60% Elemental Resistance to this second element. Azhdaha can still use any ability from Phases 1 and 2, and they will be infused with the corresponding elements.

Moonlit Tree: Submerges underground while leaving his tail on the surface. Azhdaha cannot be killed in this state, but can still be damaged.

  • Electro-Infused: The tail will zap parts of the arena in a conal AoE.
  • Cryo-Infused: The tail will release a hailstorm. The fallen ice blocks will explode upon impact, followed by Ice Spikes that will pulse three times in the affected area.

The King's Roar - Dual Infused:

  • Hydro + Electro-Infused: Summon several moving Hydro and Electro spheres that will rotate around the arena and deal damage per second upon impact.

Thunder Sphere: Forms several Thunder Spheres and shoots them towards the target.

Fractal Lance: Forms a Cryo Sphere in the air, that will then periodically summon homing ice lances towards the enemy.

Azhdaha - Fight Strategy

This fight can get really tough since Azhdaha’s attacks can be more predictable after a few fights, but this is not a fight where just learning the choreography is enough. You will need to be as mobile as possible, while also be able to trigger Crystallize and/or create as many shields as possible. Zhongli, Noelle, and Diona are great units to bring on this fight, and a few physical attackers (ideally Claymore users) could make the difference, such as Eula. You need to be patient and react fast, and you can win this.
