We’ve all heard of it - Genshin Impact, the free-to-play, open-world game with an Anime art style. But is Genshin Impact coming to the Nintendo Switch?

Genshin famously runs off a gacha system, while providing a live service ARPG/RPG for people to sink many hours into. The game has constant updates and additions, as well as new characters being thrown into the mix at regular intervals. Currently, the game is available on mobile platforms, PC, and PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles. The Nintendo Switch has become revolutionary, allowing players to bring games with them anywhere, so it stands to reason we should be able to take Genshin Impact with us wherever we go. A Switch version was confirmed, but we’re still impatiently waiting on its arrival.

Is Genshin Impact Coming To Nintendo Switch?

Mihoyo has spoken on the subject, here's what they had to say: in May 2022, Miyoho’s PR specialist Xin Yang sat down with and confirmed that the company has recently ‘doubled down’ on its Switch version. He promised more information would follow soon, but did not give any dates or timeframes. Information about Genshin Impact still states that the game is expected to be available on PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, PC, iOS and Android.

There were rumours of a beta test for the Nintendo Switch releasing back in 2020, but evidently this proved untrue. Given Mihoyo’s recent delays due to a resurgence of COVID-19 cases, it is safe to assume that the pandemic had huge effects on the company. Players were promised that the version was in development, but understandably it was best to push back any Nintendo Switch news.

As a portable console, the system is strong - however, it does not have a constant wifi connection unless you stay in one place, as there is no 4 or 5G connectivity. This would disrupt any playing of Genshin away from the comforts of a wifi port, making it less portable.
