Witcher 3 Game Director Has Launched a New Studio, Rebel Wolves

Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, best known for his work at CD Projekt Red as game director on The Witcher 3, has launched a new studio. Calling this Rebel Wolves, he'll be acting as CEO, leading a team that formerly worked on Cyberpunk 2077, Shadow Warrior 2, and Thronebreaker.

For their debut project, Rebel Wolves are working on a dark fantasy RPG built within Unreal Engine 5. Speaking to GamesIndustry.Biz, Tomaszkiewicz stated:

We're proud of our past achievements, but we're hungry for more. We want to experiment, push the envelope, discover new ways for telling stories in the video game medium. We felt that starting a new company, where we call all the shots, will give us the freedom to take the necessary risks to fulfil these ambitions.

Tomaszkiewicz originally left CD Projekt Red last year, following accusations of workplace bullying. While an internal investigation at CDPR found him innocent, Tomaszkiewicz still chose to step down, stating "a lot of people are feeling fear, stress or discomfort when working with me."

There's no name for this upcoming game just yet and no trailer, though you can find Rebel Wolves' concept art above. Launching on PC and new-gen consoles, this'll be the first entry in a planned saga. We'll keep you informed as we learn more about this upcoming project.
