The Division 2 is getting a next-gen upgrade for PS5 and Xbox Series X players.
Despite previously noting that the game wouldn't get any additional bells and whistles, it sounds as though the game will be able to use some of the power from the new hardware.
The Division 2 Next Gen Update Launches February 2
As confirmed by Ubisoft Community Manager Johan Lindholm via Twitter, Title Update 12.1 will introduce the Resident Evil crossover event, a rebalancing of the Optimization Station, and the game's next-gen tweaks.
No State of the Game tomorrow. TU12.1 releases on Feb 2nd with the Resident Evil Apparel Event, a rebalance of the Optimization Station cost as well as 4K 60 FPS support for next gen consoles.

It sounds as though the update will be somewhat barebones, increasing the game's resolution and framerate to 4K and 60 FPS (presumably 1440p and 60 FPS on Series S), but we're thankful all the same.
As for the Optimization Station, that was added in December and would allow players to reroll gear for a sizeable cost when it came to materials.
We don't yet know how this will be rebalanced, but it's good to know that Massive is still listening to fan feedback despite now working on a Star Wars title.
As someone that's been looking for a reason to jump back into The Division 2, this sounds like just what I needed.
