There’s never been a better time to change your Guardians class in Destiny.

It’s official, there will be 10 years of Destiny. Great news if you’re happy with your three Guardians, terrible if you aren’t.

But Why?

Because throughout the next decade, or nine years I suppose it is now, you will keep these Guardians by your side.

Although there were a few rumours floating around that players would be reset with the launch of The Taken King and the start of Destiny’s second year, Bungie’s Engineering Lead, Luke Timmins, stated otherwise:

“We certainly take it seriously that Destiny is a ten-year thing. It’s a long-term thing and with these adventures that we’re adding, my contract to you - and any player - is that your Guardian will always be there…” Games Radar

So why is this the perfect time to make some changes if you aren’t happy with your Guardians?

Well, it’s quite simple. If you decide to make changes to your Guardians after the Taken King drops or even further down the line, it will take longer for you to max out your new character.

But even if I make changes now, won’t it take ages to level up my new characters?

No. Two weeks ago I dumped two of my three Hunters to create/re-create a new Titan and a new Warlock. Since then my new Titan and Warlock are both level 28 and all I need to do to get them to level 34 is obtain some more Etheric Light, which isn’t very hard.

But how do I get a lot of Etheric Light?

By now most Destiny players should have a bag full of Etheric Light. So, the first thing to remember when creating a new character, make sure you do not delete them along with your old Guardian!

Store them, and as soon as you can use them, your light level will go through the roof. If you haven't got a hoard of Etheric Light hidden away, simply do everything you can in Destiny to obtain them. Nightfalls, Trials and PoE are the best.

Another very good reason to make these changes now, is to ensure you have enough time to get all three of your characters maxed out before the Taken King arrives.

Why is that important?

When the Taken King drops we don’t know what difficulty the new missions will be. If they are quite high e.g. 30, 32, 34, creating a new character from scratch and simply going through all the missions/story one-by-one will be very tough, maybe impossible.

However if you get all three Guardians to level 34 before taking on the new missions/story, you’ll be able to fly through them with no trouble at all and you can get moving on to more exciting stuff - like the new raid!

So if you have been thinking about making some changes to your Destiny Guardians, the time is now. Don’t wait any longer!
