In a new video analysis from Eurogamer’s Digital Foundry, players can get a look at real-time footage of the new and improved Gears 5 running on a Series X.

Even at a glance, it’s pretty stunning to behold — the game was already one of the finest-looking titles in the Xbox One catalog. But side-by-side comparisons offer a more complete glimpse into what next gen really has to offer.

Once-lengthy load times have been reduced to under 10 seconds, lighting and shadow are more realistic across the board, and cutscenes now boast finer detail and realism courtesy of the game’s PC version.

“Gears 5 still features one of the best HDR implementations out there. The only thing that remains to be seen is how it stacks up on Xbox Series S, and how that stacks up to the full-fat Series X experience.”
