Melty Blood Type Lumina Online Feature Announcement
As seen on the official Melty Blood Type Lumina's Twitter, the developers have confirmed which online features will be available for this fighting game on release. So far, the developers have confirmed that the game will have rollback netcode on release. However, the game is confirmed to not have a crossplay feature on release.
For many fighting games released this 2021, the Rollback Netcode is the make or break feature that many fighting games should have if they want to generate a following of the game. This netcode allows the game to sustain online matches up to 200ms ping and can be useful for connections between players from different countries. Since Melty Blood Type Lumina has this netcode, players can rely on online play for this fighting game to deliver well.
Titles such as Guilty Gear Strive, and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl are some of the fighting games that enjoyed a good following due to having these solid online play platform during this time where it's difficult to play locally with other players near each other.
On the other end, crossplay will not be available for Melty Blood Type Lumina. As of now, this game will be released on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Steam. Players will be locked into playing with opponents who also own the game on the same platform.
As of now, most of the Rollback Netcode fighting games do not have this feature. Due to this announcement, Melty Blood Type Lumina will not be the first of the rollback netcode games to be crossplay too.
