Despite a large section of the community already having held a funeral for Red Dead Redemption 2’s online element, the game’s single-player experience is still worth delving back into thanks to modders.

With interesting works, such as those that allow you to take up the life of a wild west hitman, become a metal detectorist or immersively pan for precious metals like a true prospector still hitting the Nexus every few months, there are plenty of ways to spice up Rockstar’s western.

If you’re the kind of cowboy that’s also a fan of the GTA series, a new mod, which seemingly replaces a bunch of Red Dead’s NPCs with recognisable criminals, might be worth adding to your load order.

Do you fancy running into some familiar faces from GTA as you roam the plains of RDR2?

The mod in question is called ‘Rockstar Protagonists - Red Harlow - Niko Bellic - Trevor Philips and more’ and is the work of modder thegoodmerchant. Some of their previous projects have added a new poncho to the game and switched up the appearances of the entire Van Der Linde gang.

This time, they’ve given you the chance to replace some of the NPCs you’ll encounter as you explore the semi-tamed frontier with a bunch of models inspired by GTA characters, including Trevor Philips, Niko Bellic and Tommy Vercetti.

Some of these infamous criminals even look to come with a couple of different outfit options for you to choose from and all have seemingly been given swap-in potions that ensure they shouldn’t look too out of place, with thegoodmerchant quipping: “Think of them as the great, great grandpas of the protagonists you know and love”.

Also included, thanks to some help from KristianD3’s ‘Red Harlow’, is the protagonist from Red Dead Revolver, who definitely shouldn’t have a problem fitting in, giving you someone immersive to hang out with if Johnny Klebitz from The Lost and Damned is struggling to fill the boots of pre-epilogue John Marston or Trevor’s moustache isn’t convincing enough to play Micah Bell.

If you fancy giving this mod a go, it looks as though you’ll first need to grab RDR2’s Script Hook, LMS’ ‘Lenny's Mod Loader’, and EnergiDaan’s ‘Online Content Unlocker’, in addition to a trainer like Rampage.
