Destiny 2 PS4 Down? Bungie Acknowledges Login Errors On Sony's Console

Bungie is investigating a new issue with players logging into Destiny 2 — as well as the original Destiny — on PlayStation 4.

“We are aware that PlayStation 4 players on Destiny 1 and Destiny 2 are receiving errors indicating ‘permissions to access online multiplayer may have changed,’” Bungie said in a Twitter post Tuesday afternoon.

Destiny 2 Down On PS4

In a follow-up tweet, the developer wrote, “PlayStation 4 players on Destiny 1 and Destiny 2 continue to receive these errors. Please stand by for additional updates.”

Reading through the replies on social media, it looks like this is a widespread issue related to PSN (PlayStation Network), rather than a Destiny-exclusive error.

PS4 users are also reporting problems trying to play Modern Warfare and a number of other online games.

In any case, Bungie’s investigating the issue, and will likely post an update on the Bungie Help Twitter account when more info’s available.

At least one player contacted PlayStation Support saying that Red Dead Redemption 2 has been giving them a similar error.

PlayStation has acknowledged the issue, to a degree, in a statement on its network-status page.

“You may experience somewhat slower or delayed game downloads because we’re working with ISPs to manage download traffic,” Sony writes.
