PS Plus October 2020 Update 1 - There's not long to go until the big PlayStation Plus October reveal later today (at 4.30pm BST).
But if you're looking for some news to read on the next batch of freebies, here's a look at the PS Plus October 2020 Leaks, Rumours and Predictions we've pulled together.
Original Story - We're fast approaching the end of September, with spooky season and October set to arrive in a little under 8 days' time.
But naturally, at this time of the month, most PlayStation 4 owners turn their attention to the next batch of free PS Plus games.
Generally speaking, PS Plus has seen a decent selection of games given away for free to PS4 users in 2020.
Since January fans have been gifted the Uncharted collection, Bioshock collection, The Sims 4, Shadow of Colossus, Call of Duty WW2, Fall Guys, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Erica.
And that's without mentioning a fair few others. In September the free PlayStation Plus games included Street Fighter 5 and Player Unknown's Battlegrounds. Arguably not the strongest of titles compared to past months.
But that's more a comment on how strong these freebies have been in 2020, rather than the quality of September's offering.
With any hope though, Sony will continue that streak of top tier titles into October.
Naturally, people might want to know when they can get their hands on these new games and when Sony intends to announce what's coming.
Read on, we'll explain everything you need to know.
When will PS Plus October 2020 free games be confirmed?
We imagine that most Sony PS4 fans will know how this works, however, for the sake of anyone who might be new to the PlayStation ecosystem, here's a quick explainer.
Traditionally PS Plus games have always been announced on the last Wednesday of the month at 4.30pm BST on the dot. Then these new titles becoming available from the PSN store on the first Tuesday of the month.
Some months this means the games arrive a bit earlier. But some months, it means there's a slightly longer wait than normal.
In the case of PS Plus October, fans have a bit of a wait on their hands.
Due to the way the days have fallen in the month, this means Sony won't announce the PS Plus October 2020 free games lineup until Wednesday, September 30th. That's next week if you didn't realise.
At that point, PS4 owners will have to wait until the first Tuesday of the month to download the new games (whatever they may be) from the PSN store. That means the September lineup should go live on Tuesday, September 6, 2020.
PS Plus Collection
For anyone wondering if PS Plus is still worth your money subscribing month after month, it might be worth taking a look at what else is coming later this year.
During the PS5 showcase event in September, Sony announced the PS Plus Collection.
This appears to be a new bonus geared specifically towards new PS5 console owners.
In short, PlayStation Plus members will get instant access to a huge library of first-party titles like Bloodborne, God of War, Uncharted 4 and more. On top of that, there's a bunch of third-party titles too, including Monster Hunter: World, Final Fantasy XV, and Resident Evil 7.
It's arguably not quite the same as Xbox Game Pass service, but it's at least a start for owners of the new Sony next-gen console.
